Design: 

MLB Architects, designers of The Beacon, have put the emphasis on space and light, with clean modern lines to the external and internal features. The form of the building tapers towards the top and incorporates floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors to maximise views and light. Glass balustrades are used to enhance views, while full-height aluminium sliding screens on the upper levels provide sun control, privacy and add an interesting ‘layer’ to the building. These are contrasted by the timber slatted screens and planting at ground level, providing a softer privacy feature for street-level apartments. The façade in characterised by a finely articulated timber and steel element that announces the building entrance as well as providing privacy to some of the street-facing terraces. The palette of materials and colours vary. A textured, charcoal finish is used for the base of the building, providing a strong contrast for the lightness of the upper levels, which are separated by white floor planes, and contained by solid wall areas in tones of blue and grey.
